editor for database, file maintenance, programming, and other
application software. Yet its full formatting and printing

INSTALLATION
NOTE: nnn stands for current version number, i.e. 305,...
1. copy petpennn.zip to your hard disk, preferably NOT
to the directory you want to install into.
copy a:\petpennn.zip c:\tmp
2. unzip petpennn.zip (you must have pkunzip.exe)
PKUNZIP PETPEnnn.ZIP
4. setup (defaults from where it is to c:\pe)
SETUP
If you want to get fancy with SETUP.EXE, below are some
additional options:
SETUP needs the following files (minimally) to work properly:
SETUP.EXE
KEY.PED <- setup.exe cannot run without this file
PED.EXE <- very important that it be intact as one file
README.1st <- not critical, this file
DOC.EXE <- not critical, but explains pE in detail
*.TXT <- not critical, but nice
It en-extracts PED.EXE from where it is into the specified (or
default c:\pe) directory.
It copies README.1st, DOC.EXE and all the .TXT files into the
same directory.
It then changes to that directory.
It then marks pE with your name, personalizing your copy.
IT MUST COMPLETE ALL OF THESE STEPS IN ORDER TO INSTALL PE
CORRECTLY.
It then starts pE.
Type Setup d1[:] d2:\path
where D1 = the drive where setup is located and
D2:\path is where you want pe installed.
(defaults are current drive and c:\pe)
If d1: and d2: are both floppies, they must be different.
NOTE: If system was booted from floppy, command.com must
be copied to distribution disk before install.
setup a: b:\ installs pe from a: to b:\
setup a: c:\pe installs pe onto drive c: from a:
setup c: c:\utils install pe into directory utils
of drive c: from the current
directory (also on drive c:).
pE documentation is located in a self extracting archive
named DOC.EXE. To un-extract simply type DOC on the
command line. A message in DOC.EXE provides further
information.
